Preparing uneven floors for tiling...

Achieving the flatness and regularity of the new stone floor is largely dependent upon the surface to which the stone is being fined.

Any dimensional deviance in the sub-floor ideally needs to be corrected before fitting commences, otherwise irregularities within the surface will transfer through to the tiling itself and cause lipping of tile edges.

To check the suitability of the floor, lay down a 2 metre straight edge and rotate it gradually through 3BO degrees whilst keeping an eye at floor level to make sure that any gaps appearing beneath the bottom edge of the level do not exceed 3mm. flny gaps exceeding 3mm need tofee corrected with BAL Multibase self-levelling compound.

Safety Advice
Always wear safety goggles and protective gloves when trimming and cutting tiles.
File down sharp edges with a tile file for safety when grouting.
